When social influences on
our attitudes are minimized. How do we do this??? Fool people into exposing
their true attitudes. UN mind people in to disclosing their attitudes. Ss are
first convinced that an engine can use their responses to measure their private
attitudes. Then the Ss are asked to predict the machine’s reading, thus
revealing their attitudes. Ss held a locked wheel that, if unlocked, could turn
a pointer to the left or the right. Left-disagreement; right-agreement
Electrodes were attached to their arms to look authentic. The fake machine
supposedly measured muscular responses indicating their tendency to turn the
wheel left or right.
